Blotter: 2 Men Steal 4 Cell Phones from Store
Plus: Another cell phone was taken from a store after it was accidentally left on the counter.
The following information was supplied by the Springfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Theft—Target Store in the 800 block of Baltimore Pike at about 4:56 p.m. on Nov. 12. An Upper Darby resident reported that her purse was stolen from her shopping cart while she was shopping at the store earlier in the day. The investigation showed that the woman had placed her packages into her car and returned the cart, not realizing that she had left her purse in the cart. When she realized what had happened she returned to the store but the purse was gone. The Liz Clairborne purse contained various forms of identification, several personal items, and a small amount of cash, and two debit cards.
Theft—Babies R Us Store in the 700 block of Baltimore Pike on Nov. 12. A Broomall resident reported that she was shopping at the store and accidently left her Samsung Galaxy cellular phone on the counter. She returned to the store but the phone was gone. The phone was valued at $350.
Retail Theft—AT&T Wireless Store in the 700 block of W. Sproul Road at about 7:02 p.m. on Nov. 14. The store reported that two black men fled the store without paying for four cellular phones, stolen from a display in the front of the store. Patrolman Andrew McKinney responded and the investigation showed that the two men had entered the store and browsed around the displays for a few minutes. The two men then both grabbed two cellular phones each and fled the store. The area was checked but the men were gone. They were seen entering a grey colored Ford Escape and fleeing the parking lot. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy. The phones were valued at $2,400.
