Blotter: DUI Charge Following 3-Car Crash

One of the vehicles left the scene of the car crash.

The following information was supplied by the Springfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Springfield Police responded to the intersection of S. State Road and Meetinghouse Lane for a reported car crash at about 9:48 p.m. on Nov. 2.

Patrolman Joseph O'Berg arrived at the scene to find a three-vehicle crash with no injuries. However, one of the striking vehicles had left the scene.

Further investigation showed that one of the drivers, Eugene Kulesaz, 57, of Oxford, Pa. was intoxicated.

Kulesaz was taken to Springfield Hospital, refused to have blood drawn, and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and related motor vehicle violations. He was later released to a relative.

The area was checked for the striking vehicle that left the scene, but it was gone.

The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.
