Blotter: Suspected Nike Thief Tries To Escape on SEPTA Bus

A pair of Nike sneakers was stolen in two different incidents last week.

 

The following information was supplied by the Springfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Man, Woman Stole Nikes From Famous Footwear

September 11: The Famous Footwear store in the 1100 block of Baltimore Pike reported that a male and a female just stole a pair of Nike sneakers from a display and fled the store. They entered a black colored Nissan Pathfinder and fled the lot onto Baltimore Pike. The area was checked but the actors and vehicle were gone. The sneakers are valued at $64.99.

Suspected Sneaker Thief Nabbed Trying to Get Away on SEPTA Bus

September 13: The Famous Footwear store in the 1100 block of Baltimore Pike reported that two females just fled the store without paying for a pair of Nike sneakers and two packages of socks.

They were last seen running towards the Springfield Mall. While checking the area Patrolman Dante Annacone observed the two females fitting the description at the SEPTA bus stop.

One of the actors was identified by store employees as the actor who stole the merchandise. A 41-year-old Philadelphia woman was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. She was charged with Retail Theft for taking $95.97 worth of merchandise from the store and Receiving Stolen Property. The second actor was identified and released without charges. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.
