Delco Veterans Memorial Nearly Complete

Dedication is planned for just over two months from now.

 

 

Workers are starting to put the finishing touches on a new Delaware County Veteran's Memorial on West Chester Pike in Edgmont.

According to a report on Marple Newtown Patch the Memorial will be dedicated on May 11.

The article features a video of work being done on the site of the Memorial.

According to the Veterans group's website the dedication ceremonies will feature a keynote speech by former Pennsylvania Governor and former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge. Current Governor Tom Corbett (R-PA) and several other dignitaries includeing U.S. Rep. Pat Mehan (R-PA7) and Benjamin Patton, the grandson of General George Patton are expected to attend.

The organization is still looking for donations to help pay for the memorial. Details about donating, including nine different sponsorship levels are available on the group's website.

According to a report on Marple Newtown Patch, construction on the memorial began in July, 2011.
