Friday Storm Brings Flood Advisory
National Weather Service issues flood advisory for Philadelphia area.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms Friday morning have caused the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly, NJ, to issue a flood advisory for the Southeastern Pennsylvania.
"Some locations may see in excess of two inches of rain through the morning, which would lead to small stream, urban and poor drainage flooding," the NWS said.
The warning is in effect for Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania through noon.
Although New Jersey should receive the brunt of the storm, heavy rains and thick wind are predicted for the entire area. Local creeks, streams and rivers could experience runoff, and ponding could occur in urban areas.
In a warning, the NWS said:
"Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. If necessary, move to higher ground."
