Answer: Built on a land grant from William Penn by the youngest son of David Ogden in the 1740s, this stone home retained many of its original details. The house was known as a stop on the Underground Railroad. The first president of Swarthmore College, Edward Parrish, rented the home between 1860 and 1870. Specimen plantings on the property have been attributed to the famous botanist John Bartram. (Springfield Historical Society).
