Obituary: Harry W. Strafford

Mr. Harry W. Strafford, 84, died on May 6 at Bryn Mawr Hospital after a brief illness.

 

Mr. Harry W. Strafford, 84, died on May 6, 2012, at Bryn Mawr Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Strafford attended Upper Darby High School.  He was a resident of Springfield Township for 57 years. For 50 years he was an independent self-employed plasterer trading as H. Strafford & Son.  He retired in 2006, when his son took the reins of the business.

He attended St. Eugene Church in Primos, PA.  He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was an avid bowler. He bowled at the former Stoney Creek Lanes and later at Sproul Lanes with the Sproul Industrial League.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan P. (nee McLaughlin) Strafford, a son, Jim (Marcy) Strafford of Havertown, PA, two daughters, Nancy Strafford Borkland and Anne Strafford (Daniel) Graham both of Springfield, PA, and five grandchildren, Daniel, Jr., Megan and Ryan Graham, and Samantha and Kathleen Strafford.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, May 10, after 7 p.m. at the Kovacs Funeral Home, Inc., 530 W. Woodland Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064.  Also invited to the funeral home on Friday, May 11, after 9 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 10 a.m.

Interment will be in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
