O'Hara Lions' Point Explosion
The Lions racked up 380 yards rushing against Mastbaum, with Jay Watkins and Damiere Shaw doing the bulk of the work, rushing for a combined 240 yards.
Cardinal O’Hara couldn’t be rolling any better than it is right now as the Lions enter the Philadelphia Catholic League Class AAA schedule. O’Hara is coming off a 54-0 nonleague victory over Mastbaum, of the Philadelphia Public League, on Saturday to move to 4-1 overall.
It’s the most points O’Hara has scored since it dropped 60 on Neumann-Goretti in a 60-0 victory on Sept. 18, 2010. In their last two games, the Lions have outscored their opponents 98-0. But things should change this Saturday, when the Lions play local rival Monsignor Bonner at Upper Darby at 7 p.m.
Bonner is 3-3, but has played the far more competitive schedule. The Friars three losses have come against Chestnut Hill Academy (27-21), Catholic League power La Salle (41-22) and traditional Inter-Academic League powerhouse Malvern Prep (28-7). O’Hara’s victories are over Archbishop Ryan, Neumann-Goretti, Penn Wood and Mastbaum, which have a combined record of 7-17, pales in comparison.
