OMG PD: SEPTA Bus as (Failed) Getaway Car

OMG PD takes a look at some of the more unusual, amazing or bizarre police reports from the Greater Philadelphia area.

Some people might disagree, but I have generally had good experiences with SEPTA services, especially its bus routes.

Then again, I wouldn’t want to make use of one of their busses as my getaway car.

According to a report on Springfield Patch, a Philadelphia man was allegedly seen leaving a Macy’s store without paying for several bed comforters. When confronted, the man reportedly dropped the items and hopped on a nearby SEPTA bus to leave the scene.

Police stopped the bus and removed the man.

Next stop: retail theft charges.

Check out some other unusual police reports from the area:

Grand Theft Duck: If you know anyone in the Roxborough area who suddenly has two new, unexplained ducks, the Philadelphia police might like to have a word with them.

According to a report from Roxborough Patch, two live ducks were reported stolen from a Philadelphia home on April 25. Check out the full story here.

Be on the Lookout for the Trix Rabbit: According to a report from Mt. Airy Patch, police responded to a breaking and entering at an area home on May 6. The only thing reported stolen in the house: a box of Lucky Charms breakfast cereal. Check out the full story here.

Maybe They Really Needed to Clean Their Lawn: In a report on Chestnut Hill Patch, police responded to a report of theft from the Chestnut Hill Business Association on May 3. Missing items include a weed whacker, leaf blower and a box of trash bags. Check out the full story here.

This is a good column, kind of like Weird New Jersey! Who steals Lucky Charms, anyway?
