Police Offer Snow Safety Tips
While we have a warming break in winter weather, Springfield Township wants residents to be prepared.
The small snows in recent weeks have caused the Springfield Township Board of Commissioners and the Springfield Police Department to be safe in case of a winter event.
"The township has seen a dusting of snow in the past weeks. Here a few reminders for residents during a serious snowfall," Commissioners President Jeff Rudolph said.
Sharing tips from the police department, Rudolph offered these snow tips:
- If you live on a snow emergency route, don't park your car on the street.
- When removing snow from your property, do not place it in the roadway.
- Remove all snow or ice from your vehicle before driving.
Rudolph also warned residents—especially senior citizens—to be wary of people posing as contractors who offer to remove snow. Citizens should always ask for ID.
"Offenders... will approach a homeowner outside his or her residence, while an accomplice enters the home and steals property," Rudolph said.
