New Springfield Pharmacy Now Open

A new pharmacy at the site of the former Squire Drugs on Baltimore Pike is now open for business.

Springfield Pharmacy, a new business at the site of the former Squire Drugs on Baltimore Pike, is now open for business.

It's located in the Olde Sproul Shopping Village next to Heng's Thai Cuisine.

Squire Drugs closed after Thomas Fortunato, 48, of Warrington, pharmacist and owner, pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiracy and unlawful distribution admiting he filled 120 false prescriptions.

Those drugs were later sold on the street, according to court records.

Fortunato was sentenced in October 2010 to 46 months in prison and fined $30,000. His pharmacist's license was suspended for at least 10 years.

Springfield Patch welcomes the new drug store to the neighborhood and has followed its progress in the photo gallery.
