Three Local Athletes Win Olympic Medals

Weekend Local Olympic Recap: see who won what.

 

If you missed it, this was a weekend filled with Olympic wins for athletes from our area.

One gold medal and two bronze medals won at the 2012 Olympics this weekend have links back to our area.

Lisa Raymond Wins Bronze

The most recent medal was won by Lisa Raymond, of Upper Providence and formerly of Wayne.

Raymond lost in the bronze medal match for women’s doubles Sunday, taking fourth place. But hours later, Raymond and partner Mike Bryan, earned a bronze medal in the mixed doubles match up with a win.

Brandan Hansen Wins Gold

Havertown’s Brendan Hansen was part of the much talked about men’s 4x100 relay team with Michael Phelps that won gold Saturday.

Hansen took the bronze medal last Sunday, finishing third overall in the Men’s 100-meter final at the 2012 London Olympics.

Glenn Ochal Wins Bronze

Roxborough’s Glenn Ochal won a bronze medal as part of the four man rowing team Saturday.

The Roman Catholic High School alum is part of the four-man rowing team that came came in third after the teams from Great Britain and Australia. The USA team time was 6:07:20.

“move over Jack Kelly and Rocky, I want to see Glenn on the Drive!” commented Louise Fischer on Roxborough-Manayunk Patch.
