Fire Prevention Open House

Find out what's happening in Springfieldwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

  • When: Friday, October 12, 6 - 9 p.m.
  • Where: Springfield Fire Company
  • Why Go: Everyone should come out and learn about fire prevention.  There will be prevention lessons with Battalion Chief Keith Thomas, a Smoke Trailer, Stop-Drop-and Roll Mats, fire apparatus from different fire companies on display, Sparky the Fire Dog, Awards and Prizes, Live Vehicle Rescue Demonstration and more. 
  • Cost: Free

Holy Cross Fall Craft Show

  • When: Saturday, October 13, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Where: Holy Cross School 240 N Bishop Ave, Springfield
  • Why Go: Check out 75 talented craft vendors displaying quality handmade crafted items - jewelry, food, crafts, pottery, knit clothing and accessories, unique gifts, holiday decorations, wreaths, and more.  Refreshments will be available.
  • Cost: Free

Media's 32nd Annual Food Festival and Craft Fair

  • When: Sunday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Media Borough
  • Why Go: State Street is being shut down to make room for the arts.  Come enjoy food from local restaurants, live music and check out local artists and crafters tables who will line the street. 
  • Cost: Free

Delco SPCA's Bark in the Park

  • When: Saturday, October 13, all day
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Start the 6th Annual Bark in the Park Dog Walk and Fall Festival off with a 2-mile dog walk at 9 a.m. for a $25 donation fee (a dog is not a must for the walk). Then enjoy raffles, giveaways, food, a bake sale, pet photo booth and craft tables. Eagles Cheerleaders and WMMR’s Steve Morrison of the Preston & Steve Show will judge the dog contests (who will win best ears?). Meet Curious George, survivor of animal cruelty, and his parents from noon to 3 p.m. And attend the low-cost vaccination and micro-chipping clinic from 11-2 p.m. It's a dogs day out! Be sure to stop by Patch's table too and say hello.

2nd Saturday Arts Stroll

  • When: Saturday, October 13, 6-9 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Media Borough
  • Why Go: On the 2nd Saturday of every month, businesses on and around State Street in Media stay open late as part of a free arts event. Shops, galleries and cafes host local musicians or display the work of local artists. October's 2nd Saturday Featured Artist is Bryan Rhoads, whose drawings will be on display at the Coffee Beanery and Blueberry Bog.
