Get Out: Full Moon Walk, Movie Matinee and More

Here's your quick guide to what's going on this weekend.

Meshuggah-Nuns

  • When: Running through Sunday, Jan. 27
  • Where: Hedgerow Theatre, 61 Rose Valley Road, Rose Valley
  • Why Go: A sequel to Nunsense, the nuns are back and as hilarious as ever. Friday and Saturday's shows are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday's show is at 2 p.m.
  • Cost: $10 - $32

Full Moon Nature Walk

  • When:  Saturday, Jan. 26 from 6:30 - 8 p.m.
  • Where: Tyler Arboretum, 515 Painter Road, Media
  • Why Go: Experiencing Tyler’s natural areas after dark has a magic all its own, especially if lit by a full moon. Winter nights are especially magical when the bare trees allow moonlit walks through the woods. There are lots of interesting things going on at night that you can’t experience in the daytime. Guides Sue and Chelsea Lucas will share points of special interest and seasonal highlights while leading a comfortably paced walk. The evening concludes indoors with warm drinks and snacks. This walk is for adults and teens. Please bring a flashlight, dress warmly and wear shoes suitable for uneven terrain.
  • Cost: Pre-registration required; $6 members, $8 non-members

Maple Sugar Exploration

  • When: Sunday, Jan. 27 from 1:30 - 3 p.m.
  • Where: Tyler Arboretum, 515 Painter Road, Media
  • Why Go:  Put on mittens and hats and come to see how maple syrup is made. Begin indoors with some background about trees and how sap rises in the spring, and then head out to learn about tapping trees and collecting sap.  Watch how sap is boiled down over a fire and enjoy a taste of the yummy finished product. This program is suitable for ages 5 and older.
  • Cost: Pre-registration required; $6 members, $8 non-members

Movie Matinee: The Avengers

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m.
  • Where: Springfield Township Library
  • Why Go:  This month's Movie Matinee will feature The Avengers rated PG13.  The Avengers is the superhero team-up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow.
  • Cost: Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased prior to or on day of the showing in Youth Services.

Springfield HS Band Italian Dinner & Auction

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 26 from 6 - 10 p.m.
  • Where: Springfield High School Cafeteria
  • Why Go: Come out for a night of italian food and fun to support the Springfield High School Band Program.  Enjoy live and silent auction items, door prizes, 50/50 drawing, bid on sports items, weekend getaways, gift baskets and more.  Plus- enjoy a live performance by the SHS jazz band. 
  • Cost: $10 *limited quantity available at the door
