Get Out: Breakfast with Santa, Holiday Dance and More

Breakfast with Santa

  • When: Sunday, Dec. 9 from 9 - 11 a.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Call or stop by to make reservations to have breakfast with Santa this Sunday morning at Jake's Wayback Burgers.

Annual Holiday Dance

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
  • Where: Hunting Hills Mansion in Ridley Creek State Park
  • Why Go: The Friends of Ridley Creek State Park will hold its Annual Holiday Dance this Saturday. Tickets include an open bar with wine and beer, entertainment by DJ Steve Kurtz, as well as tours of the decorated mansion throughout the evening. Space is limited, therefore, reservations are highly recommended. All ticket proceeds benefit the Friends of Ridley Creek State Park.   • Cost: $30 for members/$40 for non-members

My Daily Bucket Challenge Kickoff Event

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 8 from 2 - 6 p.m.
  • Where: Granite Run Mall
  • Why Go: Bucket List Assistant helps people define and live their goals and dreams, through Life Coaching and Technology Solutions. The event is family friendly with a moonbounce, music, face painting, a mall-wide scavenger hunt and giveaways. Bucket List Experts with a variety of backgrounds (personal training, travel, dance, non profit, entrepreneurship, sports and adventure, etc.) will be available free of charge to brainstorm about what you may want on your Bucket List as well as start the planning to check items off! The event is also a kickoff for a 21 Day My Daily Bucket Challenge - a day by day plan to focus on defining and living your goals and dreams, improving your mental and physical health, and inspiring and helping others.

Christmas Around the Farm

  • When: December 1 - December 24
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Come see the farm decorated for Christmas. See the Christmasland display and visit with the animals. The Christmas Shop & Garden Center features wreaths, freshly cut trees, greens & holly, decorations, fruit and gift baskets, Christmas gifts, hot mulled cider & children's crafts.  On Saturdays and Sundays, visit with Santa Clause between 1 - 3 p.m.  Take a hayride to the field and cut down your own Christmas tree. 
  • Cost: Free, Tree cutting costs $59.99

Festival of Lights

  • When: Nightly from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Enjoy dozens of decorated lit trees and festive displays.  Bring the kids to see displays of everyone's favorite characters, Charlie Brown & the Peanuts Gang and Santa & his Reindeer.  The trees are lit nightly from 5:30 - 9:30 for public enjoyment.
  • Cost: Free

Caroling Hayrides

  • When: December 8, 15, and 22 at 5 and 6:30 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Celebrate the ancient tradition of Wassailing and sing Christmas Carols around a campfire. Roast marshmallows and enjoy delicious apple cider.
  • Cost: $5 per person

Christmas at the Farm

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go: This is the last chance to visit with the Plantation in 2012. Come see the farmhouse decorated for the holidays, enjoy free tea tasting, and have the children make a cloth doll tree ornament and a pine cone bird seed ornament for the yard before visiting with Father Christmas. Then take part in a tradition by wassailing the orchard at 1 and 3 p.m. Other activities include textile, candlemaking, woodworking and long rifle demos. The Plantation store will be having a sale.
  • Cost: $10 adult admission, $8 child admission (age 4 to 12).
