Here's your quick guide to what's going on this weekend.

Pictures with Santa

Find out what's happening in Springfieldwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Where: Springfield Fire Company
  • Why Go: Get your picture taken with Santa Claus, and enjoy some hot chocolate, cookies, and holiday music. Please bring canned goods for the collection for the needy families in the area.
  • Cost: Free

Brunch with Santa

  • When: Sunday, Dec. 16 and 23 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Where: Springfield Country Club
  • Why Go: Enjoy an all you can eat buffet and Santa at the Springfield Country Club.
  • Cost: $25.95, Ages 2-12 $14.95

Under the Mistletoe Holiday Dance

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 15 at 8 p.m.
  • Where: Wallingford Presbyterian Church, 110 E Brookhaven Rd., Wallingford
  • Why Go: Come dressed in your most festive outfit and get out on the dance floor.  The doors open at 8 p.m. and at 8:15 p.m. you can enjoy complimentary beginner and intermediate salsa lessons.  From 9:15 p.m. to midnight the floor is open to salsa, merengue, bachata and cha cha dancing.  Also - at 10 p.m. there will be performances.  
  • Cost:$12 - early registration by Friday, Dec. 14 or $20 at the door

Christmas Around the Farm

  • When: Ongoing through December 24
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Come see the farm decorated for Christmas. See the Christmasland display and visit with the animals. The Christmas Shop & Garden Center features wreaths, freshly cut trees, greens & holly, decorations, fruit and gift baskets, Christmas gifts, hot mulled cider & children's crafts.  On Saturdays and Sundays, visit with Santa Clause between 1 - 3 p.m.  Take a hayride to the field and cut down your own Christmas tree. 
  • Cost: Free, Tree cutting costs $59.99

Festival of Lights

  • When: Nightly from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Enjoy dozens of decorated lit trees and festive displays.  Bring the kids to see displays of everyone's favorite characters, Charlie Brown & the Peanuts Gang and Santa & his Reindeer.  The trees are lit nightly from 5:30 - 9:30 for public enjoyment.
  • Cost: Free

Caroling Hayrides

  • When: December 15, and 22 at 5 and 6:30 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Celebrate the ancient tradition of Wassailing and sing Christmas Carols around a campfire. Roast marshmallows and enjoy delicious apple cider.
  • Cost: $5 per person

Tyler Christmas Bird Count

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 15 from 5:30 a.m. - Noon
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Birding enthusiasts are invited to participate in this annual tradition. Come out early and help collect data, search for owls and other nocturnal and dawn birds.  Then break for breakfast at a nearby restaurant (buy your own) and then back to Tyler to search the woodlands and meadows for both common and unusual birds.
  • Cost: Free; pre-registration required
