Enjoy a break in the heat this weekend with a few inexpensive family-friendly events. Get out while supporting good causes.

Karate Fight Against Cancer

When: Saturday June 4 from 9 a.m. till noon

Where: Medina Kenpo Karate, 151 N. State Rd

Why Go: Medina Kenpo Karate is hosting a Kenpo Karate tournament in support of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. Children and adults are welcome to enter the tournament and take on the fight against cancer.  Alex's Lemonade and other items will be available, donations are appreciated as well.  Stop by to support the fight for life, or enroll to join the fun!

Why Go: The Springfield Lions Club raises funds to support the sight and hearing impaired. Food is served for take-out and each meal includes a 1/2 chicken, baked potato, roll, dessert and drink. Advance tickets are highly recommended. For tickets, see any Lion or call Walt Young at 610-543-4257.

Price: $9 per meal

Saint Kevin Parish Picnic

When: Sunday, June 5 from noon till 5 p.m.

Where:, 200 W. Sproul Rd.

Why Go: Join the parish family of for an old fashion picnic. Rain or shine, the picnic will include food, games, music, races, a 50-50 raffle and B.Y.O.B. This event is open to all. Contact Sr. Margaret or Judi Condino in the PLC Office with any questions, (610)-544-8777.

Price: $25 per family or $8 per person
