Weekend Top 5: Chili Cook-Off, Arts, Pumpkins and More

Check out these events in from Northwest Philadelphia to the Main Line and beyond this weekend.

1. Delco SPCA's Bark in the Park

  • When: Saturday, October 13, all day
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Start the 6th Annual Bark in the Park Dog Walk and Fall Festival off with a 2-mile dog walk at 9 a.m. for a $25 donation fee (a dog is not a must for the walk). Then enjoy raffles, giveaways, food, a bake sale, pet photo booth and craft tables. Eagles Cheerleaders and WMMR’s Steve Morrison of the Preston & Steve Show will judge the dog contests (who will win best ears?). Meet Curious George, survivor of animal cruelty, and his parents from noon to 3 p.m. And attend the low-cost vaccination and micro-chipping clinic from 11-2 p.m. It's a dogs day out! Be sure to stop by Patch's table too and say hello.

2. 10th Annual West Chester Rotary Chili Cook Off

  • When: Sunday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown West Chester
  • Why Go: Ten years ago the West Chester Rotary Club had their first annual chili cook-off to raise money for charities in need in the Greater West Chester Area. Come out and support a good cause and have some chili and fun!  Purchase a wrist ban for $10 and sample as much chili as you want from over 70 different chili cooking teams.  There will also be vendors selling other food, as well as a Kid's Zone, and the Eagles game playing live on big screen TVs located on the street during the festival. Please come out and support this worthy cause, and have a whole lot of fun while you are at it.

3. Media's 32nd Annual Food Festival and Craft Fair

  • When: Sunday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Media Borough
  • Why Go: State Street is being shut down to make room for the arts.  Come enjoy food from local restaurants, live music and check out local artists and crafters tables who will line the street. 
  • Cost: Free

4. Fall for the Arts Festival

  • When: Sunday, Oct 14 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Where: Germantown Avenue, between Willow Grove and Rex Avenues
  • Why Go: Come enjoy a day of art, music, delicious food and shopping. Germantown Avenue will be transformed into an outdoor arts and crafts marketplace.  For additional information, please visit their website.

5. The Fall Harvest & Great Pumpkin Patch Event

  • When: Sunday, Oct. 14 from 1 - 4 p.m.
  • Where: The Willows Park 490 Darby Paoli Rd, Radnor
  • Why Go: Enjoy autumn activities including pumpkin picking, hay wagon rides, a straw bale maze, early-American games, music, and demonstrations.  This is a family event with traditional harvest activities, refreshments, and over 1,000 pumpkins!
