An Open Letter to Jon Stewart

The opposite of love is not hate, then, but indifference (P.S. She loves you.)

Dear Jon,

I am from Philly and you are from New York.

Philly fans hate New York fans but remember that you can't hate someone unless you can potentially love them. The opposite of love is not hate, then, but indifference.

Philly fans know indifference, otherwise known as apathy, is not what we feel for New Yorkers. We could potentially love you but it ain't never gonna happen, that's all.

Now, let's face it: If L.A. lightweights are in the shallow end of the pool, then N.Y. cityslickers are in way over their heads. Getting back to indifference, Philly's attitude toward any team that we do not like is 'Hey, win a hundred million or get hit by a Mack truck - we don't care!'

That's where we're different, John. New Yorkers care whether someone they don't like wins a hundred million (or loses about the same in some Ponzi thing.)

Jon, I don't want to make too much of our differences. After all, we both make a daily show of our genius to people who hate us; but that's a potentially good thing, right? I really do respect what you're trying to do - it's just TV is all about "takes" and we humble bloggers are more the giving type.

I really just want an answer to a question:

The woman I love loves you; so where does that leave me?!
