Patient First Medical Center Proposed for Springfield Inn Site

A presentation outlining the variances required to build a Patient's First Medical Center on the Springfield Inn site was heard at this months Zoning Hearing Board meeting.

I learned earlier in the week that the variances required to build a Patient First Medical Center on the Springfield Inn site would be one of the agenda items at this month's Zoning Hearing Board meeting.

Being curious, I made a point of tuning in to cable channel 10 to watch the proceedings.

The team of experts representing the developer and the owner of the proposed facility made a compelling case in favor of the project.  The plans as proposed, will put the  property closer to compliance with current regulations regarding setbacks, buffers and plantings on the site.  It was also claimed that there will be no effect on traffic during the morning and evening rush hours.  The board will announce it's decision at the February meeting, my guess is that the application will be approved with little if any modification.

It would appear that the commissioners and the planning commission have been supportive of the plan as the township solicitors questions were points of clarification.

No one present from the community spoke in favor or in opposition to the application.

Personally, I hate to see landmarks such as the Springfield Inn disappear from our community, but frankly I haven't been a customer there for many years so I don't know if the Inn continued to be an asset to the community.  Perhaps others could share via comment to this post.
