Christmas Music and Service

The Chancel Choir of Covenant United Methodist Church, under the direction of Sarah Batchelor, will present Hal Hopson’s carol service, Sing Noel. This service of lessons and carols is unique in that the “lessons” are poetry instead of scripture. Hymn texts as well as readings drawn from many centuries of sacred English poetry, representing some of the most beautiful Christmas literary gems of all time are used.  The music includes a variety of familiar carols from many traditions.  The congregation will also have the opportunity to sing verses from their favorite Christmas carols, all with lush string and organ accompaniment! Guest instrumentalists will be Jennifer Lee (violin), Carlos Rubio (violin), Renee Warwick (viola) and Glenn Fischbach (cello). The strings will play an extended prelude beginning at 10:15am in the Sanctuary. Parking is available in the church lot and on the street. The Sanctuary is handicapped accessible and assistive hearing devices are available upon request. Covenant UMC is located at the corner of Springfield Rd. and Saxer Ave. Directions are available from the church's web site or by calling the church office at 610-544-1400.
