Springfield Cub Scout Pack 503 ran its annual Pinewood Derby on Saturday, January 26th at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church on Lynbrooke Road. Fifty-four Scouts and eight siblings fielded handcrafted cars for this year's race event. The pack's Scouts competed in 94 races, spread out between 10 heats, that culminated in a four lane race-off before Ethan Kraft was crowned this year's Pack Champion.

"For the second year in a row the highly competitive field had Scouts and parents alike on the edge of their seats for almost every race in every heat. Our congratulations go out to Ethan and ALL the other Scouts who participated in this year's running of the Pack 503 Pinewood Derby!" Pack Secretary Jeff Merlino told Patch.
