Obituary: Thomas E. Eichman

Long-time Springfield attorney and church leader will be remembered during funeral services on Saturday

Deacon Thomas E. Eichman, 84, died on November 27, 2012 at Broomall Presbyterian Village in Broomall, PA after a lengthy illness.

 Born in Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Eichman was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Prep, Villanova University and Villanova University School of Law.  He was a resident of Springfield  for 31 years.  He formerly was a resident of Bryn Mawr, PA. 

 Mr. Eichman began his career with Schnader, Harrison, Segal, and Lewis in Philadelphia before becoming a partner with John Donohue.  He later practiced as  Thomas E. Eichman Associates, P.C. until his retirement in 2001.

 He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.  Mr. Eichman was a longtime member of St. Kevin Church where he was the chaplain of the Legion of Mary.  He was  ordained to the Diaconate in 1997 where he served as a Deacon at St. Kevin Church until 2010.  He was a member of the American Bar Association (ABA).

 He enjoyed searching for old bottles and collecting them.  He was an avid reader and loved his God, his family and his cats.

 He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Maureen (nee McDonnell) Eichman, a son, Thomas E. (Lisa) Eichman, Jr., a daughter Frances L. (Philip) McCabe, a brother, Peter L., MD (Phyllis)  Eichman,  two step-daughters,  Sherry (Paul) Kearney, Karen (Stephen) Monahan, five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, Edward A. Eichman, MD and Frances (Liebert) Eichman, four sisters, Mary, Eileen, A. Elizabeth, and Honora,  and one brother, Edward.e H

 Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, December 1, after 9:30 am until 11:15 am at St. Kevin Church, 200 W. Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064 followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30 am. 

 Interment will be in Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA.

 In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Kevin Church or to St. Peter’s Apostolate, both c/o 200 W. Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064.
