Blotter: 3 Charged in 3 Separate Thefts from Target

Plus: More than $900 worth of merchandise was stolen from Best Buy.

The following information was supplied by the Springfield Police Department. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven otherwise. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Retail Theft—Target in the 800 block of Baltimore Pike at about 6:17 p.m. on Dec. 11. Store security reported that they had a woman in custody in connection with a retail theft at the store. Patrolman Nicholas Paytas responded and took Shannon Stewart, 24, of Folsom into custody and transported her to the Springfield Police Station. Stewart was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property in connection with taking $799.96 worth of merchandise from the store. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Retail Theft—Target in the 800 block of Baltimore Pike at about 5:12 p.m. on Dec. 15. Store security reported that they had a man in custody in connection with a retail theft at the store. Patrolman Jacob Bierling responded and took Anthony Freeman, 51, of Philadelphia into custody and transported him to the Springfield Police Station. Freeman was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly taking $447.32 worth of merchandise from the store. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Retail Theft—Best Buy at about 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 15. Store security reported that they had a man in custody in connection with a retail theft at the store. Patrolman Sean Clifton responded and took Johnny Ewell, 31, of Wilmington, Del. into custody and transported him to the Springfield Police Station. Ewell was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property in connection with taking $919.98 worth of merchandise from the store. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney. 

Retail Theft—Target in the Springfield Mall at about 12:05 p.m. on Dec. 16. Store security reported that they had a woman in custody in connection with a retail theft at the store. Patrolman Jeffrey Shull responded and took Tamara Jones, 33, of Philadelphia into custody and transported her to the Springfield Police Station. Jones was charged with retail theft for allegedly taking $234.30 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.
