Blotter: Air Conditioner Stolen From Salon

A car was egged and keyed, jewelry was stolen from a home and a report of vandalism leads to underage drinking charges and a DUI.

The following information was supplied by the Springfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Air Conditioner Stolen From Baltimore Pike Salon

August 7: The in the 100 block of Baltimore Pike reported that sometime during the night someone stole a Carrier air conditioning unit from the rear of the business. The wiring to the unit had been cut. The unit is valued in excess of $4,000.

Burglar Steals Jewelry From Collins Drive Home

August 7: received a burglar alarm from a home in the 400 block of Collins Drive. Patrolman Dennis McPartland arrived and upon checking the property found that someone had forcibly entered the home through a screen and window on the rear of the property. The investigation showed that the actor(s) had removed an unknown quantity of jewelry, items from the bedroom closet, and a pillow case from one of the beds. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.

Vandalism Report Leads Police To Intoxicated Teens

August 8: received a report of vandalism that just occurred in the 600 block of Sherman Road. Information was received that two young males were observed knocking over recycling containers and then ran over a vehicle causing damage to the passenger's side of the vehicle. Their vehicle was last seen fleeing the area.

While responding to the area, Patrolman Michael Kingsbury observed the vehicle and was able to stop it at N. Norwinden Drive and Claremont Road. The investigation showed that the operator was intoxicated.

Two passengers in the vehicle, a 17-year-old juvenile male from Springfield, and a 17-year-old juvenile male from Aldan, were also intoxicated. They were taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. They were both issued citations for Underage Drinking and later released to relatives.

The operator, an 18-year-old Aldan man, was taken into custody by Patrolman Jacob Bierling, taken to Springfield Hospital and had blood drawn, and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol, Criminal Mischief, and related Motor Vehicle Violations. He was later released to a relative. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.

Car Egged and Keyed on Harned Drive

August 9: A resident from the 100 block of Harned Drive reported that sometime during the night someone egged her vehicle and also keyed the driver’s door while the vehicle was parked on the street in front of the home.
