iThefts: iPod, iPhones, And a Kindle Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Springfield Police Department. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven otherwise. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Retail Theft—The Game Stop Store in the Springfield Mall between 4:50 and 5:19 p.m. on Jan. 22. The store reported that someone entered a locked display case and stole an iPad, three iPhones and a Kindle Fire HD. There were no signs of forced entry. The sales clerk had been waiting on customers and did not notice anyone around the case. The phones were valued in excess of $1,100. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Retail Theft—Best Buy at about 11:07 a.m. on Jan. 23. Store security reported that they had a man in custody for a retail theft at the store. Patrolman Scott Francis responded and took a 46-year-old Holmes man into custody and transported him to the Springfield Police Station. The man gave police false identification at the police station. He was charged with retail theft in connection with taking $79.99 worth of merchandise from the store and false identification to law enforcement. The incident is under investigation by Detective Robert Nutley.

Retail Theft—Best Buy at about 4:43 p.m. on Jan. 25. Store security reported that they had a woman in custody for a retail theft at the store. Patrolman Dennis McPartland responded and took a 47-year-old Sharon Hill woman into custody and transported her to the Springfield Police Station. She was charged with retail theft in connection with taking $349.99 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.
