Blotter: Leather Coat Stolen from Macy's

Plus: Two more retail thefts were reported at Macy's and Target at the Springfield Mall.

The following information was supplied by the Springfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

 

Retail Theft—Macy's at Springfield Mall at about 3:18 p.m. on Oct. 15. Store security reported that a black man fled the store without paying for a leather coat stolen from a display rack in the store. The area was checked but the man was gone. The coat was valued in excess of $190.

Retail Theft—Macy's at Springfield Mall at about 4:36 p.m. on Oct. 17. Store security reported that they had a woman in custody in connection with a retail theft at the store. Patrolman Joseph Prendergast responded and took Rachel Grossman, 32, of Havertown, into custody and transported her to the Springfield Police Station. She was issued a citation for retail theft for taking $40 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.

Retail Theft—Target at the Springfield Mall at about 3:38 p.m. on Oct. 20. Store security reported that a young woman left the store without paying for a quantity of merchandise. Patrolman Michael Kingsbury located the woman, a 16-year-old juvenile from Philadelphia, at the SEPTA Bus Stop in the front lot of the mall. The woman was identified by store security, taken into custody, and transported to the Springfield Police Station. She was issued a citation for retail theft for taking $149.93 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective James Devaney is handling the  investigation. The woman was later released to a relative.
