Piping, Drill Bits, Cords Stolen in 2 Thefts

Also in the Police Blotter: A landscaper reports something important is taken right off a trailer.

The following information was supplied by the Springfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Stolen Property—Unit block of Barbara Drive between 4 and 4:32 p.m. on Nov. 26. A Springfield landscaper reported that someone stole the registration plate from his work trailer while it was parked on the street.

Theft by Unlawful Taking—Construction site for the Coventry Woods Development in the 300 block of N. State Road at about 11:23 a.m. on Nov. 28. Springfield Police received a report of two men cutting and stealing piping at the construction site. Information was received that when the job foreman arrived, the two men fled on foot. Patrolman Daniel Boyd arrived and located the two men.

John Pierce, 29, and Eric Salmonsen, 33, both of Drexel Hill, were identified by the job foreman as the men involved and were taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. Pierce and Salmonsen were charged with theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, possession of instruments of criminal and criminal conspiracy. Detective Sgt. John DiTrolio is handling the investigation.

Stolen Property—Construction site at the new Miller Ale House in the unit block of Baltimore Pike at about 7:53 a.m. on Dec. 1. The construction company working at the site reported that sometime during the night someone entered the construction site and forced open a work trailer parked on the lot. The entry was made by cutting the lock. Two levels, a skill saw, drill bits, 100 feet of aluminum, a box of brass fittings, and numerous electric extensions cords were stolen. The items were valued in excess of $2,000. The entry to the site appeared to be a hole under the fence.
