Blotter: Student's $1,000 Laptop Stolen from High School

Plus: Solar Christmas lights were stolen from a township home.

The following information was supplied by the Springfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Stolen Property—Springfield High School sometime on Nov. 15. A 16-year-old Springfield High School student reported that sometime during the day her Dell laptop computer was stolen from a classroom at the high school. The computer was valued at $1,000.

Stolen Property—St. Kevin's gym in the 200 block of W. Sproul Road at about 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 21. A 13-year-old girl from Drexel Hill and a 12-year-old girl from Media reported that they had their cell phones stolen while they were attending a dance. One of the phones was an iPhone 4S valued at $299.99 and the other was an iPod Touch valued at $200.

Stolen Property—400 block of E. Springfield Road between 6:15 and 6:23 p.m. on Nov. 25. A resident reported that someone stole eight Christmas solar powered walkway lights from the front of his home.

Retail Theft—Giant Food Store in the 700 block of W. Sproul Road at about 6:52 p.m. on Nov. 25. The store reported that they had a man in custody in connection with a retail theft of medications from the store. Patrolman Jeffrey Shull responded and took a 56-year-old Broomall man into custody and transported him to the Springfield Police Station. The man was charged with retail theft for taking $15.57 worth of merchandise from the store and receiving stolen property. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.
