Copper Wire Stolen from PECO Substation, Genuardi's

Two incidents of copper wire theft occurred last week.

Copper wire is a hot item in this week's police blotter.

PECO security reported that sometime between May 16 and June 6 at 2:14 p.m. someone cut a large hole in the fence that surrounds their substation in the 1200 block of Church Road. 

On June 7, PECO security notified that sometime overnight someone had cut a hole in the repaired section of the fence and stole a large quantity of copper wire from a spool in the yard.

The loss is valued more than $1,000.

In a related incident, an electrical contractor doing work at the in the 900 block of Baltimore Pike reported that sometime June 7 between 6 a.m. and 10:31 p.m. someone cut the lock on two storage bins and stole a large quantity of copper wiring.

The bins were in the parking lot. The wire is valued more than $4,500.
