Driver May Have Stopped Crime, Police Say

Springfield Police say an auto dealership delivery driver may have scared off a robber.

Springfield Police say a delivery driver who happened to pull in to the Ryan Kia Dealership may have scared off a robber. It was reported at 6 a.m. on February 21.

According to police:

A delivery person reported that he pulled into the parking lot of the Ryan Kia car dealership in the 300 Blk. of Baltimore Pk. and noticed a silver colored vehicle backed up to one of the bays with the trunk opened.

The witness reported that a man observed him, got in a reported stolen vehcile, and fled the lot.

Police say the vehicle was reported stolen from Lower Merion on February 20th. Further investigation showed that a window was smashed on one of the bays and four tires were found lying stacked on the floor. According to police, the business was checked and it does not appear that anything was taken at the time of the report.

The incident is under investigation by Springfield Police Detective Daniel McNeely.
