Driver Passes Out After Accident, Police Say

A Havertown woman faces DUI charges after police say she hit a parked car on a Springfield street.

 

A 21-year-old Havertown woman faces DUI and other vehicle charges after police say she hit a parked car and was then found passed out behind the wheel.

Springfield police were called to the unit block of Saxer Avenue at 6:49 a.m. last Saturday on a report of a woman passed out behind the wheel.

Police say an officer arrived on the scene to "find the operator passed out and the vehicle running after she had struck a parked vehicle on the street. Further investigation showed that the operator.. (who lives on) South Eagle Rd. in Havertown, was intoxicated."

The woman was taken to Springfield Hospital where blood was drawn before she was taken to the Springfield Police Station. She was released to the custody of a relative, police said.
