Hit-And-Run Crash Results in DUI Arrest

No one was injured in the crash, police say.

Springfield Police received a report of a hit-and-run crash at about 11:26 p.m. on Dec. 1 in the area of State Road and Collins Drive.

Patrolman Michael Kingsbury was in the area of the Springfield Library on Powell Road and noticed the described vehicle attempting to exit the parking lot.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Melissa Foster, 30, was found to be intoxicated. Foster was identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run crash, was taken to Springfield Hospital and had blood drawn, and was the transported to the Springfield Police Station.

She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and other related motor vehicle violations. She was later released to a relative.

The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.
