Man Accused in Hit and Run Faces Judge Thurs

Patience and the FBI Crime Lab led police to the man accused in a 4th of July hit and run that led to a death last month.

 

A 29-year-old Upper Darby man is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Thursday morning in Springfield on a felony charge following the death of a hit and run accident victim.

Springfield Police say Pacurie Huynh struck a pedetrian in the early morning hours of July 4, 2012 in the 100 block of North State Road and left the scene of the accident without stopping to help the victim or reporting the accident.

In an affidavit of probable cause filed in the case police say Huynh struck and doing thousands of dollars in damage to Huynh's Toyota 4 Runner SUV. Quercetti was put on life support but died late last month. An autopsy concluded his death was from injuries sustained in the accident.

Police say Huynh tried to hide the accident first by paying more than $7800 for repairs to his damaged car in cash. In the affadivit police say Huynh took the damaged car to a repair shop in Essington near the Philadelphia airport.  Springfield Police enlisted the help of the FBI crime lab to follow pieces of evidence left behind at the accident scene.

Police tell Patch the FBI crime lab was eventually able to determine what knd of car hit the victim. Through painstaking and time-consuming research Police were eventually able to track down the damaged car because all parts for Toyotas in the northeast originate from the same Maryland supplier.

On February 25 the suspect SUV was spotted in Radnor and police were able to get a search warrant.

Huynh told police that no one else was driving his vehicle on the night of the accident. In court documents filed in the case police say Huynh told police nobody else was driving his car the night of the accident. When he was asked if his car had eve been involved in accident Police say Huynh said no and "then asked to speak to a family member and an attorney."
