Drunken Driver Flees Accident Scene, Police Say

Springfield police arrest a Drexel Hill man after a hit-and-run accident at a major intersection close to his home.

A 27-year-old Drexel Hill man faces DUI charges following a hit-and-run accident on Sunday night at North State Rd/Route 1 and N. Rolling Road, according to the Springfield Police.

Police received a report of a two-car accident at 10:50 p.m. with the striking vehicle leaving the scene. Police on the scene sent out a radio description of the fleeing car, which was eventually spotted on the 200 block of Saxer Avenue.

According to police, there was "fresh damage to the vehicle when it was stopped.” The driver was identified by a witness and further investigation showed that the operator “was intoxicated,” police say.

The driver was taken to Springfield Hospital, had blood drawn, and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with DUI. 

No one was injured in the crash, according to police.
