One Car Wrecking Crew DUI Case

Allegedly drunk driver hits a parked vehicle, lamp post and a mailbox before finally coming to rest in an unusual place.

The following information was provided by Springfield Police. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven otherwise through due leal process.

Sunday at 4:30 a.m.

While on patrol in the area of S. Bishop Ave. and E. Springfield Road, Ptlm. Daniel Boyd observed a vehicle driving in a reckless manner. The vehicle was followed and turned onto Netherwood Drive where the officer lost sight of it. The area was checked and a short time later the vehicle was observed on a front lawn in the Unit Blk. of Barbara Dr.

The vehicle had struck a vehicle parked on the street, a lamp post, and a mailbox before coming to rest on the front lawn.

Investigation showed that the operator, (a 20-year old Glenolden man), was intoxicated.

He was taken to Springfield Hospital, had blood drawn, and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol, Underage Drinking, and related Motor Vehicle Violations.

No injuries were reported in the accident. The man was later released to a relative. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.
