Police Blotter: Attempted Rx Fraud, Thefts

A man attempted to purchase narcotics with two fraudulent prescriptions.

Attempted Prescription Fraud

The in the 300 block of Baltimore Pike reported Nov. 29 at 9:31 a.m. that a male was in the pharmacy attempting to purchase narcotics with two fraudulent prescriptions. Patrolman Kai DiRemigio responded and located James Rosso, 30, of the Unit block of Chester Pike in Norwood, in a pickup truck in the parking lot, waiting for the prescriptions to be filled. He was identified by employees, taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Forgery, Theft By Deception, Receiving Stolen Property, and Violations Of The Health & Safety Act. Detective Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.

Juveniles Pocket Video Games

’s security reported Nov. 29 at 6:11 p.m. that a group of young males were in the video game department stealing games from a display. Patrolman David DiTrolio responded and found that security had detained three juvenile males for allegedly taking $389.94 worth of games. The actors were identified by employees, taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. The juveniles will be petitioned to Juvenile Court in Media and charged with Retail Theft, Criminal Conspiracy and Receiving Stolen Property. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.

South Chester Road DUI

Springfield police responded to a traffic accident in the 600 block of S. Chester Road on Nov. 30 at 11:43 a.m. Patrolman Stephen Hurwitz arrived to find a single vehicle accident with no injuries. The vehicle had struck a utility pole. Further investigation showed that the operator, Christopher Borriello, 30, of the Unit block of Medbury Road in Wallingford was allegedly under the influence. He was taken to , had blood drawn, and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol Or A Controlled Substance and various Motor Vehicle Violations. Detective Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation. He was later released to a relative.

Employee Charged with Under Ringing

security reported Nov. 30 at 6:42 p.m. that they had an employee in custody for allegedly under ringing a customer’s transaction to a total of $289.99. Patrolman Jeffrey Shull responded and took Tatyanna Monroe, 24, of the 5500 block of Whitby Avenue in Philadelphia, into custody and transported her to the Springfield Police Station. She was charged with Retail Theft and Criminal Conspiracy. Detective Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.

Window Smashed, Wreath Stolen

A member of the Garden Club reported Dec. 3 at 10:20 a.m. that sometime during the night someone broke a window and stole a Christmas wreath from the front of the Old Central School in the 100 block of Saxer Avenue.

Retail Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance

The store in the reported that a female fled the store with a quantity of stolen merchandise Dec. 3 at 2:40 p.m. A description of the actor was broadcast and a short time later Patrolman Dennis McPartland observed the actor, Jacqueline Panarello, 26, of the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue in Prospect Park, walking in the 1100 block of Baltimore Pike. Panarello was identified, taken into custody, and transported to the Springfield Police Station. She was found to be in possession of a controlled substance when she was searched. The actor was charged with Retail Theft for allegedly taking $160 worth of merchandise from the store and Violations of the Health & Safety Act. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.

GPS Stolen from Unlocked Vehicle

A resident from the 700 block of Parker Lane reported Dec. 3 at 4:08 p.m. that sometime over the last few days someone stole a GPS Unit from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of the home.

Lawn Lights Vandalized

A resident from the 400 block of Thatcher Road reported Dec. 3 at 8:26 p.m. that sometime during the night someone damaged the decorative walkway lights in the front of his home.

Suspicious Man Searched, Charged with Substance Possession

Springfield police received a report of a suspicious male looking into vehicles in the 300 block of Baltimore Pike on Dec. 4 at 1:43 p.m. Patrolman Dante Annacone responded and located, William Devlin, 28, of the Unit block of Walnut Lane in Upper Darby, in the lot in the 200 block of Baltimore Pike. Devlin was observed looking into vehicles on the lot. He was searched and allegedly was in possession of suspected narcotics. He was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Violations of the Health & Safety Act. Detective Robert Nutley is handling the investigation.

Woman Charged with Retail Theft

security in the Springfield Mall reported Dec. 4 at about 4 p.m. that they had a female in custody for retail theft at the store. Patrolman Dante Annacone responded and took Jerrae Thomas, 19, of the 1500 block of Ridley Avenue in Chester into custody and transported her to the Springfield Police Station. She was charged with Retail Theft for allegedly taking $443.78 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective Robert Nutley is handling the investigation.
