DUI Charge After Accident

On Aug. 15 at 2:45 a.m., Springfield Police received a report of a traffic accident at W. Springfield and N. State roads. Patrolman Daniel Boyd arrived to find a single vehicle had struck a light standard. No one was injured in the accident. Further investigation showed that the operator, Naavah Wood, 21, of the 1100 block of Taylor Drive in Folcroft, was intoxicated. During the course of the investigation the actor became argumentative and combative with the officers. She was taken to Springfield Hospital, had blood drawn and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station where she continued to be combative with the officers. A quantity of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located in her vehicle when it was searched. She was charged with Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol, related Motor Vehicle Violations, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, and Violations Of The Health and Safety Act. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Car Rummaged Through

A Springfield resident reported that sometime Aug. 15 between midnight and 3:47 a.m. someone entered her unlocked vehicle and rummaged through it while the vehicle was parked in the lot in the 900 block of Baltimore Pike.

Cash Taken from Nail Salon

Springfield Police responded to a burglar alarm at the salon in the 400 block of Baltimore Pike Aug. 15 at 4:50 a.m. Patrolman Joseph O’Berg arrived to find the front door glass smashed in. The cash register was opened and the register drawer was found to be empty. A small amount of cash was taken. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.

Catalytic Convertors, Cash Stolen

On Aug. 15 at 7:21 a.m. the Parts For Imports business in the 1200 block of E. Woodland Avenue reported that sometime during the night someone entered the business by forcing a rear exterior door. Once inside, the actors rummaged through the offices and stole an unknown quantity of catalytic convertors as well as a bank bag containing cash from a desk in an office. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Retail Theft Charge

security in the 800 block of Baltimore Pike reported that they had a male in custody for Retail Theft at the store on Aug. 15 at 3:21 p.m. Patrolman Patrick McKenna responded and took James Garrett, 44, of the 900 block of Farm Hill Road in Sharon Hill into custody and transported him to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Retail Theft for taking $246.06 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective Robert Nutley is handling the investigation.

Leather Jackets Stolen

The store in the reported that sometime between 8p.m. and 8:25 p.m. on Aug. 15 someone stole eight leather jackets from a display in the front of the store. The coats are valued over $700.

Motel Disturbance Arrests

While on patrol in the area of the in the 600 block of Baltimore Pike Aug. 16 at 2:16 p.m., Patrolman Andrew Graff observed a disturbance in the office of the motel. Further investigation showed that a female was in the office accusing employees of stealing from her room. As Patrolman Graff approached the scene he noticed a vehicle attempting to flee the lot. The vehicle was stopped and the investigation showed a quantity of suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Gregory Beauford, 50, and Justina Togola, 46, both of the 200 block of N. 64th St. in Philadelphia, were taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. They were both charged with Violations Of The Health & Safety Act and Criminal Conspiracy. Detective Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.

Been Caught Stealing

On Aug. 16 at 6:45 p.m., the Genuardi’s market in the 900 block of Baltimore Pike reported that they had a male in custody for Retail Theft at the store. Patrolman Daniel Boyd responded and took Charles Lowe, 32, of the 8000 block of S. DuPont Highway in Felton, Del. into custody and transported him to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Retail Theft for taking $41.07 worth of merchandise from the store. During the course of the investigation he was also found to have an outstanding warrant from Delaware County. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.

Sunglasses Stolen

On Aug. 16 at 8:08 p.m., security reported that two black males just took ten pairs of sunglasses from a display and left the store without paying for them. The area was checked but the actors were gone. The items are valued over $400. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.

Car Stolen While Away on Vacation

A resident from the Unit block of N. Norwinden Drive reported that sometime between Aug. 13 and Aug. 17 at 8:18 a.m. someone stole his silver colored 2001 Chrysler Town & Country vehicle from the driveway of his home. The victim had been away on vacation at the time of the theft. The incident is under is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Vandals Smash Windows, Damage Railings

On Aug. 18 at 11:30 a.m., the reported that sometime during the night someone damaged two sections of metal railings and broke three windows on the Historic Old Central School Building in the 100 block of Saxer Avenue.

Retail Theft Charge

Target security in the Springfield Mall reported that they had a female in custody for Retail Theft at the store on Aug. 19 at 7:22 p.m. Patrolman Daniel Boyd responded and took Carol Ann MacNeal, 41, of the 200 block of Glen Tay Avenue in Lansdowne, into custody and transported her to the Springfield Police Station. She was charged with Retail Theft for taking $108.62 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.

High School Football Field Damaged

On Aug. 20 at 7:54 a.m., authorities reported that sometime during the night someone turfed the football field doing significant damage to the center of the field. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.

Cash Box Stolen

On Aug. 20 at 7:55 a.m., the Brookside Bagel Store in the Unit block of N. Brookside Rd. reported that sometime during the night someone forcibly entered the store through a front window. Once inside the actor(s) stole a plastic box that contained cash and coins. The loss is estimated in excess of $120. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.

Fridge Compressor Stolen

The owner of in the 600 block of S. Chester Road reported Aug. 21 that sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1:02 p.m. someone stole a refrigerator compressor from the rear of the store near the dumpster. The compressor is valued over $1,000.

Retail Theft Charge

On Aug. 21 at 1:17 p.m., Target security in the 800 block of Baltimore Pike reported that they had a female in custody for Retail Theft at the store. Patrolman Joseph Prendergast responded and took Jennifer Richardson, 30, of the 500 block of Philmar Court in Springfield into custody and transported her to the Springfield Police Station. She was charged with Retail Theft for taking $316.35 worth of merchandise from the store and Receiving Stolen Property. Detective Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.

Home Invasion Through Doggy Door

A resident from the 300 block of Gleaves Road reported that sometime between 4 p.m. Aug. 19 and Aug. 21 at 4:01 p.m. someone entered his home by forcing the dog door on the laundry room of the home. Once inside it appears as if the actor(s) only rummaged through the lower level of the home. It is unknown if anything had been taken. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.

Retail Theft

Target security in the 800 block of Baltimore Pike reported that they had a female inn custody for Retail Theft at the store Aug. 21 at 5:40 p.m. Patrolman Andrew Graff responded and took Alyssa Disylvestro, 33, of the 700 block of LeHann Circle in Springfield into custody and transported her to the Springfield Police Station. She was charged with Retail Theft for taking $574.19 worth of merchandise from the store. She will also be charged with Criminal Mischief for doing damage to the holding cell that she was in. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.

Car Accident, DUI Charge

Springfield Police responded to a reported traffic accident at Church Road and Crest Lane Aug. 21 at 9:56 p.m. Patrolman Daniel Boyd arrived to find a two vehicle accident with no injuries. Further investigation showed that one of the operators, Stephen Heraty, 27, of the Unit block of Trimble Rd. in Thornton, Pa. was intoxicated. He was taken to , had blood drawn and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Driving Under The Influence Of The Alcohol. He was later released to a relative. Detective Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.
