Police Blotter: Homeless Man Found Sleeping in Yard

A homeless man sleeping outside a residence on Wayne Avenue was searched and a quantity of suspected narcotics was found in his possession.

Man Charged with DUI

While on patrol in the 800 block of Baltimore Pike Patrolman Kai DiRemigio observed a vehicle driving in a reckless manner at 1 a.m. on April 9. The vehicle was stopped and the operator, John Suber, 57, of the 500 block of N. 52nd Street in Philadelphia, was found to be intoxicated. He was taken to , had blood drawn, and was then transported to the police station. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and related motor vehicle violations. He was later released to a relative. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Homeless Man Found Sleeping In Yard

A resident from the 600 block of Wayne Avenue reported that there was someone covered in a blanket sleeping in the rear yard of the home at 8:52 a.m. on April 9. Patrolman Daniel Boyd responded and located Ricky Fedoriw, 39, a homeless man. The investigation showed Fedoriw is a relative of the victim; however, he was not permitted to be on the property due to personal issues and conflicts with the family. He was searched and a quantity of suspected narcotics was found in his possession. He was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with defiant trespass, violations of the Health and Safety Act and disorderly conduct. Detective Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.

Stolen Vehicle Found

A resident from the 400 block of Southcroft Road reported April 9 at 8:17 p.m. that there is a suspicious black vehicle that has been parked on the street for five days. Patrolman Andrew Graff responded and the investigation showed that the vehicle was stolen from Philadelphia in November of 2011. The vehicle was towed and Philadelphia police were notified of the recovery.

Woman Charged with Retail Theft

security in the reported April 10 at 7:02 p.m. that they had a female in custody for alleged retail theft at the store. Patrolman Jeffrey Shull responded and took Shanda Miller, 25, of the 6600 block of Haverford Avenue in Philadelphia, into custody and transported her to the police station. She was charged with retail theft for allegedly taking $292.55 worth of merchandise from the store and receiving stolen property. Detective Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.

Car Shot at Dealership

The auto dealership in the 300 block of Baltimore Pike reported that sometime between the night of April 7 and April 11 at 11:39 a.m. someone shot out the driver’s window of a vehicle parked on the lot and also shot the hood of the vehicle. The damage appeared to have been done with a BB or pellet gun.

Home Door Smashed

A resident from the 1100 block of Westdale Place reported April 11 at 8:49 p.m. that someone had attempted to forcibly enter her home by smashing the rear door. Patrolman Dante Annacone responded and the investigation showed that the glass on the sliding door had been smashed. It does not appear as if anyone entered the home.

Man Charged with Retail Theft

in the Springfield Mall reported April 12 at 7:59 p.m. that they had a male in custody for alleged retail theft at the store. Patrolman Kai DiRemigio responded and took Jonathan Nichols, 21, of the 900 block of Cedar Grove Road in Broomall, into custody and transported him to the police station. He was issued a citation for retail theft for allegedly taking $19.95 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective Robert Nutley is handling the investigation.

Sewer Grates Lifted

The property owner of a shopping center in the 100 block of Baltimore Pike reported April 13 at 10:08 a.m. that sometime within a few days of the report someone stole five metal sewer grates from the parking lot.

Package Stolen from Residence

A resident from the 100 block of Grandview Road reported April 13 at 3:08 p.m. that sometime during the day on April 10 someone stole a package that was delivered to her home. The victim checked with the post office and confirmed that the package had been delivered. The package contained $60 worth of hair products.

Juvenile Charged with Retail Theft

Target security in the Springfield Mall reported April 13 at 8:05 p.m. that they had a young female in custody for retail theft at the store. Patrolman Andrew Graff responded and took a 17-year-old into custody and transported her to the police station. She will be petitioned to Juvenile Court in Media and charged with retail theft for allegedly taking $222.27 worth of merchandise from the store and receiving stolen property. The investigation also showed that she was a missing juvenile from Parkside. She was later released to a relative. The incident is under investigation by Detective Robert Nutley.

Woman Charged with Retail Theft

security reported April 14 at 4:13 p.m. that they had a female in custody for retail theft at the store. Patrolman Stephen Hurwitz responded and took Roseann Boyd-Skiano, 50, of South 12th Street in Darby, into custody and transported her to the police station. She was charged with retail theft for allegedly taking $401.28 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.

Taillight Smashed

A resident of Marlton, New Jersey reported that sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 3:41 p.m. on April 15 someone smashed out a taillight on his vehicle while it was parked on the lot at in the 900 block of E. Woodland Ave.

AC Units Vandalized at Springfield Diner

The owner of the in the 700 block of Baltimore Pike reported April 15 at 8:55 p.m. that sometime within a few days someone intentionally damaged two air conditioning units on the roof of the business.
