Police Blotter July 25-31: Shop Break-in, Home Invasion, Vandals Throw Stones

Baby Formula Stolen

security in the 800 block of Baltimore Pike reported July 25 at 7:44 p.m.that they had a female in custody for retail theft of baby formula from the store. Patrolman Kai DiRemigio responded and took Christina Hamilton, 24, of the 4700 block of Woodland Avenue in Drexel Hill into custody and transported her to the Springfield Police Station. She was issued a citation for Retail Theft for taking $83.94 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.

Retail Theft with Wire Cutters

security reported July 26 at 12:49 p.m. that they had a male in custody for retail theft at the store. Patrolman Sean Clifton responded and took Robert Lewis, 20, of the 5400 block of Trinity Street in Philadelphia into custody and transported him to the Springfield Police Station. The actor was found to be in possession of a pair of wire cutters when he was searched. The actor was charged with Retail Theft of taking $476 worth of merchandise from the store and Possession Of Instruments Of Crime. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Juvenile Charged with Retail Theft

On July 26 at 5:09 p.m. ’s security reported that they had a young male in custody for Retail Theft at the store. Patrolman Sean Clifton responded and took a 17-year-old juvenile from Clifton Heights into custody and transported him to the Springfield Police Station. He will be Petitioned To Juvenile Court in Media and charged with Retail Theft for taking $299 worth of merchandise from the store and Receiving Stolen Property. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.

Flip-flop Thief Flees

The store in the 1100 block of Baltimore Pike reported that a female fled the store July 26 at 5:20 p.m. without paying for a pair of women’s dress flip-flops. The actor got into a blue Chevrolet Lumina and fled the lot onto Baltimore Pike. The merchandise is valued at $54.99. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.

Pike Accident, DUI

Springfield Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Baltimore Pike at South Bishop Avenue July 27 at 6:53 a.m. Patrolman Patrick McKenna arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. Further investigation showed that one of the operators, Janice Merion, 36, of the 100 block of Mattson Road in Garnet Valley, was under the influence of a suspected controlled substance. She was taken to , had blood drawn, and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. She was charged with Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol Or A Controlled Substance and related Motor Vehicle Violations. She was later released to a relative. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Copper Gutters Gone

On July 27 at 9 a.m. a resident from the 300 block of Collins Drive reported that sometime during the night someone stole all of the copper rain gutters from the home. The items are valued in excess of $500.

Vandals Throw Stones

A resident from the 400 block of Prospect Road reported July 27 at 11:28 a.m. that sometime during the night someone threw numerous rocks into his rear yard and his pool. There was possible damage to the lining of the pool.

Retail Thieves Caught

Best Buy’s security reported July 28 at 7:55 p.m. that they had two males in custody for retail theft at the store. Patrolman Scott Francis responded and took the two actors, Mohammed Fakloee, 18, of the 1200 block of Jackson Avenue in Collingdale and a 16-year-old juvenile from Collingdale, into custody and transported them to the Springfield Police Station. Fakloee was issued a citation for Retail Theft for taking $25.98 worth of merchandise from the store. The juvenile was issued a citation for Retail Theft for taking $104.96 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.

Resident Reports Activity, Theft Averted

On July 28 at 3:51 a.m. a resident from the 300 block of Collins Drive reported that he was awakened by a noise outside of his residence. He observed a male attempting to steal the copper rain gutter from his home. The actor was using a small ladder on the side of the property. The actor fled on foot from the area. The area was checked but the actor was gone.

Home Invasion, Jewelry Taken

A resident from the 1000 block of Mt. Holyoke Place reported July 28 at 4:53 p.m. that sometime between 8:30 a.m. and the time of the report someone forcibly entered his home by breaking a pane of glass on the sliding glass door on the rear of  the home. Once inside the actor(s) rummaged through various rooms. An unknown quantity of jewelry was stolen from one of the bedrooms. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.

Reckless Driving, DUI

While on patrol in the 200 block of North State Road on July 29 at 3:36 a.m., Patrolman Stephen Hurwitz observed a vehicle driving in a reckless manner. The vehicle was stopped and the operator, Ian McCoyd, 19, of the 400 block of Derwyn Road in Drexel Hill was found to be intoxicated. He refused to have blood taken and was transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol and related Motor Vehicle Violations. He was later released to a relative. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Pizza Shop Break-in, Cash Taken, Food Spoiled

On July 29 at 7:49 a.m., the in the Unit block of East Woodland Avenue reported that sometime during the night someone forcibly entered the business through a rear window. Once inside the actor(s) stole cash from the cash register and also left the freezer door open, spoiling all of the food inside. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Dude, Where’s My Skateboard?

On July 29, a resident from the 1000 block of Crozer Lane reported that sometime between 12:30 p.m. and July 29 at 4:59 p.m. someone stole his Sector 6 skateboard from the front yard of the home. The item is valued in excess of $150.

Bag of Clothes Stolen

store in the reported that a female left the store without paying for a bag of clothing on July 29 at 8:13 p.m. Patrolman Kai DiRemigio responded and located the actor, Nydia Lee, 23, of the 5700 block of Florence Avenue in Philadelphia, in another store carrying a child. She was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. She was charged with Retail Theft for taking $271.52 worth of merchandise from the store. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Three Reports of Theft from Unlocked Vehicles

On July 30 at 10:09 a.m., three residences in the 300 block of Hawarden Road reported that sometime during the night someone entered their unlocked vehicles while they were parked in the driveways of the homes. A GPS Unit and loose change were taken from the vehicles.

Credit Card Stolen, Used

On July 30 at 5:08 p.m., a Wallingford resident reported that her credit card was stolen from her card holder in her pocketbook while she was at sometime around 1:30 p.m. The investigation showed that the card had been used at various local stores in the area. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Two charged with Retail Theft

security in the Springfield Mall reported July 31 at 9:24 p.m. that they had two females in custody for Retail Theft at the store. Patrolman Kai DiRemigio responded and took the two actors, Donna Donahue, 32, of the 200 block of Chester Pike In Glenolden and Tara Woerle, 26, of the 900 block of 11th Avenue in Prospect Park, into custody and transported them to the Springfield Police Station. Donahue was charged with Retail Theft for taking $174.52 worth of Merchandise. Woerle was charged with Retail Theft for taking $223.84 worth of merchandise. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.
