Police Blotter May 27-29: Armed Robbery, Theft, Vandalism

Springfield police officers responded to an armed robbery at Famous Dave's this week as well as reports of theft and vandalism.

The following is the Springfield Township Police Department Incident Report for May 27-29 compiled by Records Supervisor Robert J. Woolson.

5-27-11 at 4:06 p.m. 

Catalytic Converter Removed, Stolen

A Springfield resident reported that sometime between 5:15 a.m. and the time of the report someone stole the catalytic convertor from his vehicle while it was parked in the parking at the Scenic Road Trolley Stop.

Items Stolen from Unlocked Vehicles

Residents from the 300 block of North LeHigh Circle reported that sometime during the night someone entered a total of nine vehicles that were all left unlocked and parked in the driveways of the homes. Two GPS Units, a Satellite radio, a cellular phone charger and loose change were stolen from the vehicles. 

5-28-11 at 8:16 a.m. Unlocked Vehicle Entered

A resident from the 600 block of Yale Avenue reported that sometime during the night someone entered his unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of the home. It is unknown if anything was stolen.

5-28-11 at 10:15 a.m. Vehicle Vandalism

An Aston resident reported that sometime during the night someone used a black colored permanent marker on the side of his vehicle while it was parked on the street in the Unit block of North Norwinden Drive.

5-28-11 at 11:42 a.m. Unlocked Vehicles

Residents from the 600 block of Farm House Circle reported that sometime during the night someone entered a total of five vehicles that were all left unlocked and parked in the driveways of the homes. All of the vehicles had been rummaged through and it did not appear as if anything had been stolen from the vehicles.

5-28-11 at 4:58 p.m. Credit Card Stolen

A Havertown resident reported that someone stole a credit card from her purse while she was at the earlier in the day. The card had been used for purchases at a local store prior to the victim cancelling the card.

5-29-11 at 12:28 a.m. Armed Robbery at Famous Dave’s

Springfield Police received a report of an armed robbery that just occurred at in the 900 block of East Woodland Ave. Ptlm. Stephen Hurwitz, along with other officers, arrived and the investigation showed that two black males entered the business through a rear loading dock door. Once inside the two actors, one armed with a sawed-off shotgun, proceeded to gather the employees together. They were eventually led to the manager’s office where they stole a large amount of cash and fled the business through the same door they entered. The area was checked for the actors but they were gone. The incident is under investigation by Detective Robert Nutley. No one was injured during the incident.

5-29-11 at 3:09 p.m. Retail Theft, False I.D. Under Investigation

Security reported that they had a male in custody for Retail Theft at the store. Ptlm. Andrew Graff responded and took Terrell Hope, 38, of the 8200 block of Forest Avenue in Philadelphia into custody and transported him to the Springfield Police Station. He provided the officer with false identification when he was interviewed at the station. The actor was charged with Retail Theft for taking $455 worth of merchandise from the store, False Identification To Law Enforcement, and Receiving Stolen Property. The incident is under investigation by Detective Robert Nutley.
