Police Blotter: Trespasser Falls Asleep

A man entered someone's car and fell asleep wearing roller blades.

Cash Stolen from Registers

security reported Oct. 18 at 10:31 p.m. that they had an employee in custody for stealing cash from the cash registers on two different occasions. Patrolman Nicholas Paytas responded and took Anthony King, 22, of the 1500 block of Elmwood Avenue in Folcroft, into custody and transported him to the Springfield Police Station for allegedly taking a total of $380 during the thefts, an investigation revealed. He was charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking, Theft By Deception, and Receiving Stolen Property. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.

Two Charged with Retail Theft

The food store in the 700 block of W. Sproul Road reported that they had two females in custody for Retail Theft in the store on Oct. 20 at 4:27 p.m. Patrolman Joseph Prendergast responded and took Makayla Trout, 27, of the 300 block of Rose Tree Rd. in Media and Jessica Keenan, 22, of the 600 block of Lawnton Terr. in Holmes, into custody and transported them to the Springfield Police Station. They were both issued citations for Retail Theft for allegedly taking $14.75 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.

Trespasser Falls Asleep in Car

A resident from the 400 block of N. Bishop Avenue reported Oct. 22 at 1:37 a.m. that he had observed a male sleeping in his vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the home. Patrolman Dennis McPartland arrived and the investigation showed that the vehicle’s contents were thrown on the driveway and the male was still sleeping in the vehicle. The male was observed wearing a pair of in-line roller blades. Giovanni Peay, 29, of the 600 block of Christina Place in Philadelphia, was awakened and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. He was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was issued citations for Disorderly Conduct, Public Drunkenness, Criminal Mischief and Simple Trespass. He was later released from custody. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.

Fence Damaged

A resident from the 400 block of Wheatsheaf Road reported that sometime during the night Oct. 22 someone damaged the wooden fence in the rear yard of her property. The property backs up to the 400 block of Powell Rd.

Wallet Stolen

On Oct. 23 at 12:45 a.m. a Secane resident reported that sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 10:50 p.m. Oct. 22 someone stole her wallet from her purse while she was eating at the in the 100 block of S. State Road. The wallet contained various forms of identification, credit cards and her checkbook.

DUI on Springfield Road

While on patrol in the 600 block of E. Springfield Road Oct. 23 at 1:53 a.m., Patrolman Kai DiRemigio observed a vehicle driving in a reckless manner. The vehicle was stopped and the operator, Joshua Schlegel, 19, of the 200 block of Childs Avenue in Drexel Hill, was allegedly intoxicated. He was taken to , had blood drawn, and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol, Underage Drinking, and related Motor Vehicle Violations. He was later released to a relative. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.

Credit Card Fraud

A Marlton, New Jersey resident reported that on Oct. 22 around 5:40 p.m. someone stole a credit card from her purse while she was eating at in the 1000 block of Baltimore Pike. She did not realize that the card had been stolen until the credit card company contacted her about large transactions being made at local stores. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.
