Police Blotter: Vehicle Crashes Into House; Driver Flees, Charged with DUI

Springfield Police received a report of a vehicle that drove into a house in the 800 block of W. Springfield Road and the operator was fleeing the scene on foot Feb. 19 at 3 a.m.

Handbag Lifted In Ladies Room

A Philadelphia resident reported Feb. 13 that sometime during the previous night Feb. 12, someone stole her handbag from the ladies room at the Red Lobster restaurant on Baltimore Pike. The victim went back to her table and realized that she had left the handbag in the ladies room and when she went to retrieve it, it was gone. The handbag contained various forms of identification, credit cards and a large amount of cash. The credit cards had not been used prior to being cancelled.

Wallet Stolen

A Ridley Park resident reported Feb. 13 that sometime between 11:35 a.m. and 1 p.m. someone stole her wallet from her pocketbook while she was shopping at the Target in the Springfield Mall. The victim did not realize that the wallet had been taken until she went to the cash register to pay for her items. The wallet contained various forms of identification, credit cards and a small amount of cash.

DUI On Baltimore Pike

While on patrol in the 600 block of Baltimore Pike, Patrolman Andrew Graff observed a vehicle driving in a reckless manner Feb. 14 at 1:20 a.m. The vehicle was stopped and the operator, Kevin Graser, 21, of the 200 block of Riverview Road in Swarthmore, was allegedly intoxicated. He reportedly refused to have blood taken and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. Graser was charged with Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol and related motor vehicle violations. He was later released to a relative. Incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.

Man Charged with Retail Theft

Best Buy’s security reported Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. that they had a male in custody for retail theft at the store. Patrolman David DiTrolio responded and took Vasilios Zografidis, 18, of School House Lane in Broomall into custody. He was issued a citation for retail theft for allegedly taking $37.98 worth of merchandise from the store. He was released from the scene after being issued the citation. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.

Home Burglarized, Expensive Items Stolen

A neighbor of a residence in the 900 block of Providence Road reported Feb. 16 at 1:14 p.m. that sometime around 10:30 a.m. she observed a white pickup truck in the driveway of a home and a white male and white female were observed removing numerous items from the house and placing them in the truck. Springfield Police were summoned and upon arrival the investigation showed that the home had been entered through the front door. Once inside, the actors stole numerous pieces of electronic equipment and an expensive rug. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.

Home Egged

A resident of Nield Road reported that sometime around 10 p.m. Feb. 17 someone egged the front of his home. Damage was found to the front windows and the front painted areas of the home.

$400 Withdrawn from Forgotten ATM Card

A Clifton Heights resident reported Feb. 18 at 5:18 p.m. that she had withdrawn cash from the ATM machine at Citizen’s Bank at the Springfield Mall. When she left she realized that she had left her card in the machine. When she returned a short time later to retrieve it, she discovered that another withdraw had been made for cash on her card. Her card was located in the machine and there was a receipt for the second withdraw of $400.

Driver Crashes Into PECO Pole, Charged with DUI

Springfield Police were dispatched to the 200 block of E. Springfield Road for a reported traffic accident with injuries Feb. 19 at 2:49 a.m. Patrolman Patrick McKenna arrived to find that a vehicle had struck a PECO pole and the passenger in the vehicle was trapped in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle appeared to be suffering minor injuries. The passenger was extricated by rescue personnel from the Springfield Fire Company and was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Further investigation showed that the operator, Heather Curlett, 29, of Albert Avenue in Primos, was allegedly intoxicated. She was also transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center to be treated for her injuries. She will be charged with Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol and related Motor Vehicle Violations. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.

Springfield Police received a report of a vehicle that drove into a house in the 800 block of W. Springfield Road and the operator was fleeing the scene on foot Feb. 19 at 3 a.m. Patrolman Joseph Prendergast arrived to find a vehicle had struck the front of the home causing damage to the front door area. The operator of the striking vehicle was not on the scene. A short time later the operator, Michael Sinapi, 39, of the 200 block of Harvest Lane in Broomall, was located walking in the area of Dunwoody Drive and Burnley Circle. The actor was allegedly found to be intoxicated. He reportedly refused to have blood taken and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol and related motor vehicle violations and was later released to a relative. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.

Walkway Lights Vandalized

A resident from the 200 block of Colonial Park Drive reported Feb. 19 at 9:30 a.m. that, sometime during the night, someone damaged the ornamental walkway lights on the front of the home.

Vehicle Mirrors Damaged

A resident from the 400 block of Vallyview Road reported Feb. 19 at about 2 p.m. that sometime during the night someone damaged both side-view mirrors on his vehicle while it was parked on the street in front of the home.
