Springfield Cops Nab Fleeing Suspects

Blotter: They got away with, but not for long,

The following information was provided by Springfield Police. All suspects are considered inocent until proven otherwise through due legal process.

Retail Theft—The CVS Pharmacy in the 300 block of Baltimore Pike at about 1:54 p.m. on Jan. 27. The store reported that a group of women had fled the store with a quantity of unpaid merchandise and left in a vehicle last seen traveling on Baltimore Pike heading towards West Avenue.

A description was broadcast to police and a short time later Patrolman David DiTrolio observed the vehicle on South Avenue and Providence Road. A 21-year-old Philadelphia man and a 21-year-old Philadelphia woman were identified, taken into custody, and transported to the Springfield Police Station.

The man was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property and was also found to have warrants from PSP in Avondale and from Delaware County. The woman was issued a citation for retail theft in connection with taking $45.95 worth of merchandise from the store. A third person was identified and released without charges. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.
