Local Stations Mourn Firefighters Killed In Kensington

Fire companies throughout the city and suburbs are flying flags at half staff.

Just days removed from the death of two Philadelphia Firefighters at a Kensington blaze, fire brethren mourned their fallen peers.

From Philadelphia Fire Ladder Company 10, Lt. Robert Neary, 60, and Firefighter Daniel Sweeney, 25, were killed fighting a five-alarm warehouse fire on Tuesday. On Friday, funerals were scheduled for both men.

Throughout the city and suburbs, fire companies raised flags at half-staff to honor Neary and Sweeney. Others hung black bunting.

"Firefighting is a brotherhood and sisterhood and when one of our own goes down it is felt throughout every firehouse in the country," posted on its website. "We are sorry to hear the loss of our fellow brothers."
