Thefts from Macy's Best Buy, Target

Read about some recent arrests for retail theft.

Macy's Security reported that they had a young woman in custody for Retail Theft at the store on August 5. A 16-year-old from Morton was issued a citation for Retail Theft for taking $124.60 worth of merchandise from the store.

Best Buy's Security reported that they had a woman in custody for Retail Theft at the store on August 11. A 22-year-old from Philadelphia was issued a citation for Retail Theft for taking $134.95 worth of merchandise from the store.  

An employee of Septa reported that sometime between 10 and 10:20 a.m. on August 7 someone stole a bag of tools and a volt meter while his unlocked truck was parked on S. Rolling Rd. at E. Leamy Ave. The employee had been in a control house that operates the trolley line during the theft. The items are valued in excess of $600.00, according to police.

The Giant Food Store in the 700 block of W. Sproul Rd. reported that four women left the store on August 7 without paying for numerous items. The area was checked and three of the women were found running in the 700 block of W. Sproul Rd. and the fourth was located at State & Sproul roads. One woman, a 19-year-old from Philadelphia, was found to be in possession of some of the stolen items. She was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. Two of the women were identified and released without charges and the fourth woman was found to have an outstanding warrant from Montgomery County. She was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. A large quantity of merchandise was later located next to an office building in the 700 block of W. Sproul Road.

Target Security in the Springfield Mall reported that a man and woman were seen leaving the store without paying for a Samsung cellular phone on August 10. Police arrived and found the woman, a 21-year-old from Upper Darby, inside of a car with the stolen phone, according to police. The man, a 22-year-old from Upper Darby, was walking in the parking lot and upon seeing the officer he turned around and walked away, but was eventually taken into custody. The two were charged with Retail Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Conspiracy, and Possession Of Instruments of Crime.
