Two Alarm Fire Burns Springfield Home

One person and two cats escaped a house fire on Wednesday afternoon in Springfield.


Springfield Fire Department, Police and PECO were on the scene of a fire at the corner of Franklin and Pancoast Road Wednesday afternoon.

The two-story twin home caught fire around 12:30 p.m. Investigators haven't released the cause of the fire.

One person was home at the time of the fire. According to witnesses at the scene, the woman was unharmed, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Two cats were removed from the building by Delaware County Animal Control. 

After the blaze was put under control, PECO went to work repairing a leaning utility pole.

Workers also began to board up the property.
