Two Alarm Fire Burns Springfield Home

One person and two cats escaped a house fire on Wednesday afternoon in Springfield.

Springfield Fire Department, Police and PECO were on the scene of a fire at the corner of Franklin and Pancoast Road Wednesday afternoon.

The two-story twin home caught fire around 12:30 p.m. Investigators haven't released the cause of the fire.

One person was home at the time of the fire. According to witnesses at the scene, the woman was unharmed, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Two cats were removed from the building by Delaware County Animal Control.

After the blaze was put under control, PECO went to work repairing a leaning utility pole.

Workers also began to board up the property.

PECO was called many times about the leaning pole. It has been a hazard for a long time. IT is also rumored that Peco was there w/ the Verizon guy and then left... then the pole fell. Peco is responsible for the loss these people have. ps a Springfield Fireman, possibly Batallion Chief, also works for Peco and he was out and about expressing his opinions.......

Just found out that Springfield Twp was also told about this pole quite a few times... Remember folks" we don't want any eye sores in the community"
