Wallet, Purse Stolen from Movie Theater, Police Say

Two separate thefts occurred at the Springfield movie theater recently, Marple Police say.

Marple Township Police are investigating two separate thefts that occurred at the AMC Marple 10 recently. 

On Aug. 17, a victim reported to police that her wallet was taken while she was inside the AMC Marple 10 movie theater at 400 S. State Rd in Springfield, according to Marple Police.

The woman told police she arrived at the theater at about 3:15 p.m. and sometime during the course of the movie, someone took her wallet which was in her purse on the seat next to her, according to police.

The woman said it may have been possible she dropped her wallet but believes it was taken while she was seated inside the movie, according to police.

On Aug. 3 at about 2:34 p.m., two people left the AMC Marple 10 movie theater and returned to their car to find the rear passenager window smashed out and the victim's empty purse missing from the back seat, according to police. 

No valuables were inside the purse but it was visible from the outside, according to police. 

The purse was valued at about $50 and the damage to the window was valued at about $250, according to police.
