Meehan, Casey to be Sworn in for Second Terms

When U.S. Congressman Pat Meehan (R-PA7) and U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) are sworn in for their second terms in Washington Thursday they will become part of the most diverse Congress in U.S. History.

to win the Seventh District seat in the 113th Congress which will be sworn in at noon Thursday on Capitol Hill.

According to his official biography Meehan also worked for two years as a referee in the National Hockey League before going into politics.

U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) will be sworn in for his second six year term on the Senate side of the U.S. Capitol Thursday.  The son of former Pennsylvania Governor Robert P. Casey, the Senator served eight years as Pennsylvania's Auditor General and two years as State Treasurer. He defeated coal mining executive Tom Smith to win re-election in November.

According to an article in the Capitol Hill newspaper The Hill, the 113th Congress which will be seated Thursday is among the most diverse ever. According to the article: "there will be over 90 new members of Congress sworn into office on Thursday — a diverse group of men, women, straight, gay, married, single, well-known and unknown."
