Meehan Wins Re-Election to 7th District Seat

A top campaign aide calls the win one bright spot in a disappointing night for GOP in DC.

Republican Incumbent Congressman Pat Meehan of Drexel Hill (Upper Darby) (R-PA7) easily defeated Democrat Challenger George Badey of Radnor to win a second term in the U.S. House Tuesday.

Meehan held an nearly 2 to 1 margin in Delaware County to retain the seat he won during the historic GOP victories of the 2010 Obama mid-term elections.

The Republican momentum was not with the national GOP Tuesday night, prompting one top Meehan Campaign official to call his victory as "at least one bright spot in an otherwise disappointing night."

During his victory speech Meehan told a ballroom full of supporters at the Springfield Country Club that his focus during his second term will be on jobs.  Meehan cited his work to save the gasoline refinery in Marcus Hook as one of the highlights of his first term. He told supporters that work in Washington in the next Congress needs to be focused on the impact the economy has on working families in Delaware County and around the country.

In his concession speech, Radnor Attorney George Badey told supporters he was  "proud of the way our campaign conducted itself through the year.
We have surprised a lot of people in this election. This has all been worth it."

Badey left the door open for future campaigns saysing "With hard work, persistence and perseverance anything is possible. It's not over. the battle never ends. I'm living my American dream - win or lose."

Dont you have to bake these things at 400+ in the oven before serving? Won't that sterilize theRead More food?

With all due respect to Giant (I shop there), I do believe that seed and suet for backyard birdsRead More should be purchased by a locally owned store. A locally run store has a higher turnaround in seed and suet, meaning the product is fresher. Stay away from "big box" discount stores. Their seed and suet may sit on store shelves for months, letting the products turn rancid. Also, big box stores often by seed mixtures that contain fillers such as red millet. Backyard birds do not eat red millet (they do love white millet, however). If you think you're saving money when you buy a seed mixture containing red millet, it's really not a bargain. Shop locally! And be a smart shopper!

Dove's eat red millet. Your right about red millet in most seed bags which are over half the seeds,Read More what a waste. We buy big bags of parrot seeds & they to are filled with filler things that they don't even eat. I don't like the fact that the seed bags can't be seen through anymore. Easy way to rip people off.

Get you lox/nova from Costco. It's almost half the price and much tastier and if they ever have aRead More recall, they notify you, individually, and you don't need a receipt to get cash back. Once I discovered how good their smoked salmon tastes, and I get it at such a great price, I never will get it from anywhere else. One catch... you have to join the Costco club but man, it's worth it. I used to buy 1/2 lbs from Genardi's and when they got bought out by Giant, I had to look elsewhere. Now that I found Costco, I buy 1 1/2 lbs at about the same price and it's even more delicious. Happy Bar Mitzvah.
